Less than two months after the Golf Performance Centre opened, the transformation of La Grande Mare is also progressing well. We caught up with Fay Boyd, Operations Manager, La Grande Mare Golf Performance Centre, to discuss next steps.

As islanders will have seen, the framework for the country club has been erected, and it’s fantastic to see a glimpse of what the building will look like once complete. It’s a complex project with all the groundworks and services required for the gym, 25-metre swimming pool, restaurant, function rooms and the golf club, but it is going well. Work will soon commence on making the structure wind and water tight.

The next milestone will be the opening of the golf course, which is set for August 2026, and we’re excited to be working towards that goal. While the work on the course has finished, the vastness of the remodelling means that the whole course has to settle and the greens and fairways have to be well-established, but we’ll be keeping everyone updated as move closer to the scheduled opening.

Interest in the golf offering has definitely increased now that people have seen the standard of the Golf Performance Centre. It’s been an exciting two months and the response from former members, neighbours and the wider community has exceeded our expectations. Our team is now working on some new initiatives that will allow golfers to improve their game over the winter months, ready for the new season. Our strapline is ‘Always Extraordinary’ and that’s what we want to help golfers become.
