Our way of being
Environment
La Grande Mare is inseparable from the Guernsey landscape. Protecting the natural beauty and nurturing the wildlife of our island sits at core of our mission, and throughout years of redevelopment work, our dedicated ecology projects have ensured that both flora and fauna have flourished across the property.
A living landscape
Wildlife
Our course is home to a wide variety of species of birds, mammals, freshwater fish, invertebrates and plants. Native oaks stand proud and crooked. Migrating birds overwinter in the wetlands. A grove of wild orchids sits on the 8th hole. Everywhere you look, La Grande Mare feels part of the island’s natural landscape — and that’s entirely by design.
Shaped by nature
The Course
Ecology directly influences the golfing experience. The abundance of flora and fauna provides a rare depth of beauty. The ponds, woodlands and waterways create strategic challenges, shaping how golfers approach every hole. We’re proud that La Grande Mare could only exist in Guernsey.
For the people of Guernsey
Long-Term Vision
Our commitment doesn’t end with the redeveloping the course. Habitat management, regeneration and ecological stewardship will remain a core part of our identity as we nurture this landscape for generations to come.
