Whether you're visiting the Golf Performance Centre for the first time, looking at lessons or planning an event, you'll find plenty of helpful answers in our FAQs below.  

The Golf Performance Centre

  • The Golf Performance Centre is La Grande Mare’s state-of-the-art golf facility here in Guernsey. We've got expert instructors, advanced tracking technology, and everything you need to refine your game in a relaxed, premium setting. 

  • The Golf Performance Centre is set within the grounds of La Grande Mare, a tranquil and refined setting just steps from the course. Access is via the Rue De Gele, GY5 7LR. 

  • We have state-of-the-art swing analysis, precision ball-tracking Trackman technology, bespoke instruction studios, and premium range bays. There's also a beautiful, quiet dining area where you can buy drinks and snacks.

  • Our seasonal opening hours are listed below. But if you're ever unsure, simply call our reception team and for a rapid answer.

  • Yep, there is generous parking just outside the Golf Performance Centre. 

  • Yes, dedicated accessible parking spaces are located close to the entrance for ease of access.

The range

  • Walk-ins are welcome. If a bay is available, you can book at the desk on arrival. Pre-booking is recommended to guarantee your spot. 

  • Each bay is booked in one-hour sessions, giving you ample time to practise and enjoy the experience. 

  • Never! Bays are stocked with balls at the start of your session, and additional balls are always available if you need more. Happy hitting! 

  • Yes, up to four people can share a bay, whether they are playing or spectating.

  • Yes, rental clubs are available when you check in for £15 per set.

  • Of course. You can order light snacks and drinks from the Golf Performance Centre and have them taken to your bay.

  • Yes. Trackman lets you access a collection of iconic championship courses from around the world, including the Old Course at St Andrews, Pebble Beach Golf Links, Valderrama, and Royal Birkdale. 

  • Our Trackman range uses the same tour-proven dual radar technology found on professional tours. It tracks every golf shot in real-time, providing instant, data-driven feedback on your ball speed, launch angle, carry, and total distance.

Golf instruction

  • Susan Shapcott, PhD, PGA is our director of performance and leads all instruction at La Grange Mare.  

  • Our performance director, Susan Shapcott PhD, PGA, used to be head of training for the PGA. She has a PhD in educational psychology and was recognised by Golf Digest as a top instructor. 

  • Absolutely. Everyone from total beginners to scratch golfers is welcome to learn, and practice, with our Golf Performance Centre!

  • Yes, clubs are included with your lesson if needed. There's no extra charge.

  • We offer a range of golf package that you can see here. 

  • Absolutely. You can see all of your options on our Golf instruction page. 

  • Lessons can be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours' notice. Late cancellations may be charged in full. 

  • You can book lessons online, over the phone or by walking into the Golf Performance Centre for a chat.

Club fitting

  • Club fitting is a personalised process that tailors your equipment to your unique swing, ensuring optimal accuracy, distance, and consistency. Whether you’re new to the game or an experienced player, a professional fitting can significantly enhance performance, allowing you to play with more confidence and precision.

  • Your club fitting begins with a detailed assessment of your swing using advanced TrackMan technology, allowing our PGA professionals to analyse key performance data.

    From there, a selection of equipment is expertly tailored to your specifications, ensuring each club complements your technique for enhanced distance, accuracy, and feel. The experience is personalised, precise, and designed to elevate every aspect of your game.

  • It is beneficial to bring your own clubs so our PGA professionals can analyse your current set up and compare options. If you do not have golf clubs, that’s okay, we can still provide you with clubs to analyse your swing in detail and make brand-agnostic recommendations for your first purchase! 

  • Yes. Your fitting provides clear, expert recommendations tailored precisely to your swing. Our PGA professionals guide you through the ideal models, specifications, and setup, ensuring every club you choose is perfectly suited to elevate your performance. 

  • Yep, there is generous parking just outside the Golf Performance Centre.

Events and private hire

  • Absolutely, our studios can be booked for private events. Please contact our team for packages and availability.  

  • Each event can be tailored to suit your requirements. Please contact our events team for further details. 

Bookings and payments

  • The easiest way is to use our online booking system. However, you can also book over the phone or by popping to the Golf Performance Centre in person. 

  • Full payment is taken securely at the time of booking for range bays, lessons, and fittings.

  • Unfortunately not. The Golf Performance Centre is cashless, with all payments made by card for speed and security. 

  • Yes of course! Our gift vouchers can be used for lessons, classes, club fittings or range bookings — the perfect gift for any golfer. Please contact our team for more info. 

  • Yes, pre-orders can be placed for select apparel. Please ask our team for details on available items.
